The other day, I came across a curious prayer from King Solomon the Wise, many years ago. This strange phrase, “Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people” has been stuck in my head like a good hook from a song. Today I took a few minutes and sat with that phrase. This is what I came up with:
What can be found at the top of a mountain?
What can grow at such high altitudes?
What can be made by any hands up there to reach down here?
No wonder the mountains are such lonely places.
Some day soon, the snow covered caps will yield a harvest down below.
Some day soon, the heavens will nourish the earth.
Some day soon, these barren fields will rejoice.
Some day soon, prosperity will come from the mountain,
down to us.
